About Guard Card Atlas

Guard Card Atlas explains, state by state, what it takes to get and keep a security guard license in the United States.

Each state writes its own rules, and they're spread across agency pages, PDFs and regulations. We collect the parts a new guard needs (age, background check, training hours, fees, renewal), quote the official wording for each one, and link to where it's published.

The site is run by the Guard Card Atlas team. We're an independent reference: not a government website, not a training school and not a security company. We don't sell courses or take applications. The site is free to read.

We add states only after we've found and checked their official sources, so some states aren't here yet. Here's how we check.
